Parents: To use S.C.O.R.E.S, you must first register for an account to get access. Please use the link below to register. Step by Step instructions are provided below to get you started.
   
Magnet Programs Lottery Dates:
The following Magnet Program Lottery dates are provided for your information and consideration:

  • Open Enrollment:  March 22 thru April 16, 2010
  • Application Deadline:  April 16, 2010
  • Magnet Lottery: May 18 thru June 2, 2010
  • Acceptance and Alternate letters:  June  2010
  • Application Processing:  Apr thru May  2010

Instructions
Follow the directions below, only if you do not have an account to access eportal:
 
  1. You must register for a New Account:
  2. Click the "Register for a New Account" link above if you don't already have an account.
  3. Click the checkbox to agree to the terms and conditions of the site.
  4. Click the "Next" box.
  5. Follow the instructions on the site to establish an account.
  6. Complete the student number, birth date and GTID number.
    *NOTE: The student number and GTID number may be found on the January DeKalb report card.
  7. For current DeKalb County School System students, click the "Add Student" button for each additional student.
    *NOTE: You must allow 2 business days for authorization by the local school registrar.
  8. You must add all your current DeKalb Students to your account. Please follow all instructions on the Parent & Student Access link above.
  9. Your current DeKalb Student(s) must be Authorized before you can submit online applications.
  10. After doing all of the above, you may submit applications online by clicking an application on the "School Choice" menu on the left.

Current Authorized DeKalb County Parents Completing a School Choice Application:
  1. Click the "LogIn" link on the top right corner of this page.
  2. Go to the "School Choice" menu, then select a school choice application.
  3. Click your child’s blue student identification number.
  4. Review the information on the application.
    *NOTE: If ANY information is incorrect or incomplete, you will not be able to submit your application.
  5. Click the "Submit" button on the bottom of the application!
  6. Check the applicant's registration status (see registration statuses below).
    *NOTE: If any documents are requested, you must mail or hand deliver the documents to The Magnet and Theme Schools Office at 3770 North Decatur Road Building B, Decatur, Georgia 30032.  After April 10, 2010, please mail or hand deliver documents to the Magnet and Theme School Office at 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard, Stone Mountain, Georgia 30083.

Private School Students/Home School Students:
  1. Click the "LogIn" link on the top right corner of this page.
  2. Go to the "School Choice" link, then select a school choice application.
  3. Click on the "New Student Only" button.
  4. Complete the entire application.
  5. Click the "Submit" button on the bottom of the application!
  6. Check the applicant's registration status (see registration statuses below).
    *NOTE: If any documents are requested, you must mail or hand deliver the documents to The Magnet and Theme Schools Office at 3770 North Decatur Road Building B, Decatur, Georgia 30032.  After April 10, 2010, please mail or hand deliver documents to the Magnet and Theme School Office at 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard, Stone Mountain, Georgia 30083.

Registration Statuses:
  1. Eligible   The application has been processed and the student will participate in the lottery.
  2. Ineligible   The application has been processed. However, the application contains one or more errors or required documents. Do NOT complete another application. The student WILL NOT participate in the lottery until all supporting documentation is submitted to the Magnet and Theme Schools Office prior to the deadline.
  3. Deactivated   The application has been removed from the lottery process.
  4. Review the information on the application.
    Selected   The student has been selected for a School Choice school upon verification of information.
  5. Wait List  The student has NOT been selected for a Schoice Choice school. The student may be notified for placement if a seat becomes available on or before September 30, 2010.

Note:
  1. Please follow all given instructions on the screen while filling out your Online Lottery Application.
  2. If you have problems Logging back in, or you have forgotten your password, please click the "Help" link above for instructions on recovering your password.

Tip:
  1. The application only takes about 1 minutes to fill out and submit.

Agreement of Understanding
By registering your students for the Magnet Lottery after logging onto this site, the following conditions apply:

  1. THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT THIS APPLICATION IS Friday, April 16, 2010.
  2. Failure to complete all requested information accurately will cause this application to be voided for the 2010-2010 application process.
  3. It is the parent/legal guardian's responsibility to submit any additional admission requirements (student ID#, proof of residence, birth certificate, report card, etc.) that may be necessary to complete the application process by April 16, 2010.
  4. Applicants of multiple births applying for the same magnet program and grade level will be placed simultaneously if eligible and selected.
  5. Students who fail to meet the DCSS promotion criteria will lose placement in the selected magnet program.
  6. An automated lottery selection process will be utilized to admit eligible applicants when the number of eligible student applications to Magnet schools exceeds the number of seats available.
  7. The Magnet School application will be voided if any false statements are made pertaining to the application or admissions to a Magnet school.
